David is Executive Director of the North Carolina Petroleum Council, the state office of the American Petroleum Institute (API) and also serves as the Southern Region Director for API. API is the only national trade association representing all facets of the oil and natural gas industry, which supports 9.8 million U.S. jobs and 8 percent of the U.S. economy. API’s more than 625 members include large integrated companies, as well as exploration and production, refining, marketing, pipeline, and marine businesses, and service and supply firms.

David is a native of Wilmington, NC and a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. David currently resides in Raleigh, NC with his wife and three young children. He is active in the community, serving on several professional association and non-profit boards, including the Board of Directors for the North Carolina Professional Lobbyists Association where he chairs the Public Service Committee. Additionally, David also serves on the Board of Directors for the Frankie Lemmon School & Foundation, an early education program for special needs and typically developing children in Wake County, NC. David is also a member of White Memorial Presbyterian Church where he serves on the Stewardship Committee.
