LOCAL: There May Already Be a “Winner” for the Redistricting Map Configuration for the City of Greensboro, NC!

According to John Hammer, Rhino Times, 9/30/2021, “it didn’t take the Greensboro Redistricting Committee long to decide which City Council redistricting map it planned to recommend to the City Council.”

Of the four proposed maps, the pie-shaped one was the one “worthy of serious consideration.”  But some tweaking is still required.

Historically, the pie shaped map was the only map that was based on the City Council district map that was drawn in 2001 rather than the current City Council district map which was drawn in 2011.

For the proposed pie-shaped map that seems favored by the City of Greensboro’s redistricting committee, go here: https://www.greensboro-nc.gov/home/showpublisheddocument/50130/637686109275430000.

Please note that the largest district (1.51 deviation from the ideal) when added to the smallest district (2.93 deviation from the ideal) equates to a 4.49 deviation difference that is within the 5% ideal range.
